Tri-Training

Posted by Phil on Jan 3, 2009 in Training

02/01/09 Another ride today 48.53km, 2hrs 1min 54secs, avg23.8km/h, max 65.5, cadence ariund 60 on the hills and 80-90 on the flats and downhills.

Todays ride was a bit slower due to the uphill nature of the ride. Ride included Waikite hill and the Rehi Rd hill. 4 stops due to fatige and lack of breath on the Waikite hill (for those who don’t know it has a fairly daunting hill, people either love it or fear it). Rehi Rd even though approx 8km from end of ride I managed in one hit probably due to the fact although it is as steep as the Waikite it is 1/3 of the length (still a good workout though).

It was interesting to note that I wasn’t dying to get off the bike at the end of the ride a good sign in  my book.

All in all I was fairly pleased with the ride even though the weather wasn’t marvellous (rained for approx 1/2 ride), took things a bit cautiously due to wet road and skinny  tyres.

The next gen rider

Posted by Phil on Jan 1, 2009 in The Children

Spent some time with Dan on his new bike, a bit of riding with the trainer wheels

getting going

Nothing like getting the confidence up.

Then the trainer wheels came off and Dan was into it, a few laps around the house with Dad running alongside. Then we moved onto the back lawn and a bit of a shove and Dan was away.

A bit wobbly but Dans away

Still going

Away laughing

We now have one very proud and keen young man ready to take on the world.
