About
“One mans journey from couch potato”
November 2008 I was told by my doctor that I needed to get some exercise. I was over-weight (113+kg) , my cholesterol was bad (LDL was high and HDL was far to low) and I was now at the age where heart disease is an ever increasing risk.
The best way to get my HDL up was to get some exercise.
I purchased a bike and started riding again, (only to find out that I really enjoyed it) but me be me I knew that I needed to have a goal to strive for as I have never been one for exercise for the sake of exercise. I decided that having competed in Triathlons at high school this would be a good goal to head towards. So now my blog title may make a bit more sense, a quote from Yoda (Star Wars) “Do or Do Not, There is No Try”. A little play on words suggested to me by a good mate.
I set my sights for the Blue Lake Multi-Sport Event (a RATS club run event) as my first Tri. I finished in a fairly shabby time of 1hr 45mins, but it gave me the bug to get out there and improve.
So there it is we are 6-7 months down the track and I have done 3 Tri’s, (last one 1hr 22mins), completed the 100k Flyer (3hrs 20mins), and I am now down to 95kg.
